Planting of 500 trees with Colas Rail Poland and VisionX in Sopot Forest on 23 April 2024

On 23 April 2024, a unique event took place in Sopot Forest – together with Colas Rail Poland and Vision X, we planted 500 larch seedlings! Each tree planted is a step towards a greener future and the clean air we breathe.

Larch – a tree with valuable properties

Larch is a unique coniferous tree, belonging to the pine family. It is distinguished by a number of valuable properties that make it an extremely valuable species in both an ecological and utilitarian context.

• Larch is one of the fastest-growing trees in Europe. Under favourable conditions, it can grow up to 1 metre per year. This impressive growth rate makes it a valuable component in the rehabilitation of degraded areas and forestry districts.
• Larch shows great resistance to harsh environmental conditions. It copes well in poor and acidic soils and continental climates characterised by wide temperature fluctuations. It is also resistant to drought, frost and pests, making it an easy to care for species.
• Larch is also of great ecological importance. It purifies the air by producing oxygen and absorbing harmful substances. These trees protect the soil from erosion and regulate water management. They also provide a habitat for many animal species, helping to preserve biodiversity.
