Tree Planting Together in Kabacki Forest: United for a Better Future
On May 10th, 2024, another remarkable event took place in the picturesque Kabacki Forest in Warsaw, in collaboration with companies GSK and GLP. Volunteers, including employees from these companies, joined forces to plant an impressive 300 trees, predominantly oaks.
Kabacki Forest, one of the most important green areas in Warsaw, has been revitalised by this initiative, enhancing its role as a key spot for recreation and relaxation for the capital’s residents. Tree planting not only beautifies the landscape but also brings numerous ecological benefits. Trees play a crucial role in cleaning the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Additionally, forests are natural habitats for many species of animals and plants, supporting biodiversity.
The volunteers, with great enthusiasm and passion, set to work, fully aware that each tree planted is an investment in the future. The pre-prepared oak seedlings were carefully placed into the ground, with each tree given the necessary conditions to thrive.
Oak: The King of the Forest
The oak is one of the most valued tree species in Poland, often referred to as the king of the forest. They can reach impressive sizes, both in height and crown width, and their lifespan often exceeds hundreds of years. Oak wood is extremely hard and durable, making it highly prized in construction and craftsmanship. Oak leaves and acorns are important food sources for many animal species. Oaks also play a significant role in forest ecosystems, influencing soil structure and supporting biodiversity.
The Impact of Forests on the Ecosystem
Forests play an indispensable role in the ecosystem. They act as natural air filters, absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen, which improves air quality. Tree root systems stabilise the soil, preventing erosion and reducing the risk of flooding. Forests are also crucial water reservoirs, influencing water cycle regulation and reducing the effects of drought. The biodiversity they support is the foundation of healthy ecosystems, providing habitats for countless plant and animal species. Moreover, forests absorb substantial amounts of carbon dioxide, helping to combat climate change. Their presence directly impacts both local and global climates, making them essential elements in environmental protection strategies.
The One More Tree Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for their hard work and dedication. Each tree planted is a step towards a healthier and greener planet. We hope this event will inspire other companies and organisations to undertake similar initiatives.
Together, we can achieve great things for the benefit of our common home – Earth. See you at the next tree planting events!
