Clean-up of Bielański Forest in Warsaw with Moneygram on 19 September 2024
On 19 September 2024, Warsaw became the site of a unique initiative – Moneygram employees came together to clean up green spaces in the capital. As part of this action, which was organised by the One More Tree Foundation, volunteers went into the field to fight the pollution that disfigures the urban space. The event was particularly significant because it was a form of employee volunteering. Moneygram employees joined the initiative with full commitment, showing that caring for the environment is part of their values, both professionally and personally. The clean-up was carried out in an atmosphere of cooperation and shared responsibility for the state of nature in our surroundings.
Protecting nature
Warsaw, despite its modern architecture and intensive development, still offers its inhabitants numerous green areas – parks, squares, urban forests. These are places that play a key role in providing a healthy living environment, improving air quality, offering space for recreation and shelter for urban fauna. Unfortunately, like many other urban areas, these areas often fall victim to excess waste, which disfigures their natural beauty and threatens their ecosystems. The clean-up campaign aimed to restore cleanliness and harmony to these spaces, allowing nature to flourish again. Thanks to the dedication of the Moneygram employees who volunteered, a significant amount of waste was collected. Each participant felt that they were contributing to the quality of life in the city, while setting an example to others of the importance of taking care of our common good – nature.
Moneygram – commitment to the environment and employees
Moneygram has a long-standing commitment to social responsibility, not only to its customers, but also to the environment and the communities in which it operates. The company understands that doing business is more than just generating profits – it is also a responsibility to our planet. That is why it devotes so much attention to sustainability and to involving its employees in environmental actions. The employee volunteering that was organised as part of this campaign is a great example of how Moneygram gives its people the space to act for the environment. Employees eagerly joined in the clean-up, showing a commitment that goes far beyond their daily work duties. On that day, everyone became an ambassador for change, showing that caring for the planet is the responsibility of us all. Moneygram proved that it is worthwhile to involve employees in local communities, joining forces for the common good.
The effects of the clean-up
The employee volunteering that Moneygram employees took part in produced significant results. In a few hours of intensive work, it was possible to clean up a large part of Warsaw’s green areas. Many types of waste were collected – from plastic bottles, packaging and paper, to larger items that littered parks and squares. Each bag filled with rubbish is a small step towards a better, cleaner environment, but also a symbol of a joint effort to protect our planet. The effects of this action will not only be seen in the form of clean green spaces, but also in the inspiration the volunteers left behind. They showed that even small steps make a big difference in the fight for a better environment, especially in urban spaces where nature has to fight for survival every day.
