On 1 October 2024, the One More Tree Foundation had the honour of organising a flower meadow and flower bulb planting event in Podlęż, followed by a flower bulb planting at a roundabout in Niepołomice, in partnership with GLP. These events aimed not only to beautify the local area, but also to support biodiversity and create pollinator-friendly places. The actions were organised as part of the company’s volunteer work, which further emphasises GLP’s commitment to local communities and environmental protection.

Young people in action

For the first part of the event, in Podlęż, it was essential to involve the school’s youth, who joined our activities with great enthusiasm. Working hand-in-hand with volunteers and GLP staff, the students learned about the importance of environmental protection and actively contributed to the creation of beautiful, colourful meadows. Their presence added to the unique spirit of cooperation and joy that accompanied the entire action. Thanks to such initiatives, young people are developing their skills and becoming aware of the environmental challenges facing our environment.

Why flower meadows?

Flower meadows play an important role in the ecosystem, supporting biodiversity and attracting pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies. Creating such spaces is not only a step towards aesthetics, but also a way of protecting local flora and fauna. The vegetation that grows in flower meadows provides not only food, but also shelter for many species. Planting flower meadows contributes to soil regeneration, improving soil structure and water retention, which is extremely important in times of climate change.

The results of our work in Podlęż

Thanks to the involvement of young people and GLP staff as part of the employee volunteering, we were able to plant many bulbs and meadow plants that will soon please the eye of Podlęż residents. GLP employees have shown that protecting the environment is not just a duty, but also a passion and a way to spend time together. Creating green spaces not only improves the quality of life for residents, but also has a positive impact on the environment. The plants help to improve air quality and create a microclimate that is beneficial for local residents.

Planting bulbs at the roundabout in Niepołomice

On the same day, after the Podłęż action, GLP staff also organised the planting of flower bulbs at the roundabout in Niepołomice. This roundabout has been made more aesthetically pleasing by the additional plantings, which will bloom in spring, adding colour and life to this space. By taking part in this event, GLP employees are showing the importance of working together for the environment and the local community. The flower bulbs that have been planted will attract pollinating insects, supporting the local ecosystem.

A shared future

Both actions – the planting of a flower meadow and bulbs in Podłęż and the planting of flower bulbs at the roundabout in Niepołomice – are excellent examples of how joint action can have a real effect in protecting the environment. Each plant planted is not only an investment in the aesthetics of the space, but also in the future of our planet. The cooperation between the foundation, young people and GLP employees within the framework of employee volunteering shows that each of us can contribute to positive changes in our environment.

Join us!

We encourage everyone to follow our activities and join more initiatives to protect and develop green spaces in our cities. Each and every one of us has the power to make positive changes and take care of our surroundings. Together we can create a better future for our planet!
