Planting 300 trees with the Lower Silesian Women’s Congress Association on October 18 in Walbrzych

On 18 October 2024, Wałbrzych was enriched by 300 new trees thanks to the initiative of the One More Tree Foundation and the Lower Silesian Women’s Congress Association. By the city’s ring road, seedlings of pine, larch and beech were planted – species that not only blend beautifully into the natural landscape, but are also durable and resistant to climate change. These plantings have a long-term effect on improving air quality and the microclimate of Walbrzych, thereby increasing the living comfort of the residents.

Youth Support and Local Involvement

One of the most inspiring elements of the event was the presence of young people from the Third High School and the Energy Technical School, who actively participated in the tree planting. Under the guidance of specialists, the young people learned how to carry out the planting properly and also understood the important role of each tree in the ecosystem. Involving young people in such projects not only broadens their knowledge, but also develops a sense of responsibility for nature and the local environment, which can translate into their future pro-ecological activities.

Cooperation with Authorities and Suitable Conditions for Young Trees

The tree planting initiative also gained the support of the Wałbrzych authorities, who took care of the appropriate technical conditions for the young trees. Local officials worked with the organisers to make sure that each sapling received the necessary space and protection. This gives the trees a better chance of longevity and growth. Local infrastructure, such as safeguards against soil erosion and proper drainage, also plays a key role in their growth, highlighting the importance of community cooperation at every stage of this type of project.

Walbrzych DKK Group and Tree Care

Thanks to the involvement of the Wałbrzych group of the Lower Silesian Women’s Congress, the young trees are in good hands at the adaptation stage. The DKK group has committed to monitoring and caring for the saplings during key growth phases, including regular watering, weeding and possibly protecting the trees from the elements. Caring for young trees is just as important as the planting itself, as without support they often cannot survive harsh weather and urban factors.

Our Mission – Greening Walbrzych and Working Together

The One More Tree Foundation is proud to be able to green Walbrzych and spread environmental awareness among its residents. Thanks to such initiatives, the city is becoming more resident-friendly and fostering better public health by improving air quality. We believe that this is just the beginning of our work together, and that cooperation with local organisations, authorities and residents will enable the implementation of further green projects. Every tree we plant today will serve future generations, contributing to the fight against global warming and strengthening local ecosystems.

We thank all participants and partners for their support and commitment. Together we can achieve much more, creating a sustainable future for Walbrzych and the entire region!
