Planting 130 trees in the Kabaty Forest in Warsaw with CVC on October 29, 2024
On 29 October 2024, the One More Tree Foundation held another tree planting campaign, this time in the Kabaty Forest in Warsaw, thanks to the support of CVC. This collaboration enabled the planting of 130 young trees, mainly maples, enriching the local ecosystem and contributing to environmental protection. The action took place with the participation of numerous volunteers who, together with the Foundation, dedicated their time and energy to make this project a success.
Great atmosphere and involvement of volunteers
The atmosphere during the tree-planting campaign in Kabaty Forest was extremely positive and full of energy. The volunteers, equipped with tools and goodwill, approached the tasks with great enthusiasm, ready to do their bit to create a greener environment. Working together quickly turned into a unique experience, full of laughter, jokes and positive exchanges. Every step, from digging a hole to carefully fixing a young tree, became an opportunity to work together and support each other, and even make new friends.
Participants were able not only to enjoy a moment of relaxation in nature, but also to strengthen bonds and a sense of community. It was the opportunity to form lasting relationships and the knowledge that they were working together for the greater good that made everyone feel part of something special. After the planting, many volunteers shared their reflections on how rewarding it was to take part in such an initiative.
Las Kabacki – the green lungs of Warsaw
Las Kabacki is one of Warsaw’s most valuable natural areas, often referred to as the ‘green lungs’ of the capital. It extends over approximately 903 hectares and is a popular recreational destination for the city’s residents. Located on the edge of Warsaw, it provides both a refuge for wildlife and a recreational space for people. Kabaty Forest is home to many species of plants and animals, and every new tree planted within its boundaries contributes to biodiversity and supports the stability of the ecosystem.
Why plant trees?
Planting trees, especially in places such as Kabacki Forest, is vital for environmental protection. Trees are a key element in the fight against climate change – they absorb carbon dioxide, reducing its concentration in the atmosphere and thus slowing down the greenhouse effect. In addition, trees play an important role in cleaning the air by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen. The Kabaty Forest, thanks to initiatives such as this one, is becoming an even friendlier environment for both the local flora and fauna and the people who visit the place every day.
Linden and maple trees – trees with extraordinary qualities
While mainly maples and linden were planted during this campaign. Each of these trees has its own unique properties that contribute to the attractiveness and value of the ecosystem.
- Linden – is a symbol of peace and harmony, often referred to as the ‘tree of friendship.’ It has exceptional resistance to air pollution, making it an ideal choice for planting near cities. In addition, the linden tree blooms in summer and its flowers attract bees, providing them with nectar, which has a positive impact on the development of beekeeping in areas such as Warsaw.
- Maple – maples are very efficient at absorbing carbon dioxide and their leaves change colour in autumn, creating picturesque landscapes. Maple is also highly resistant to climate change, making it an excellent choice for urban and suburban plantings.
Volunteer involvement and CVC support
The tree planting campaign in Kabaty Forest could not have taken place without the support of volunteers who were committed to supporting the One More Tree Foundation in implementing this initiative. CVC, which made the financing of this action possible, showed a strong sense of social responsibility by supporting sustainable environmental activities.
Thanks to actions such as the one in Kabaty Forest, the One More Tree Foundation and its partners are contributing to building a greener future by increasing the number of trees and promoting ecological attitudes. Kabacki Forest has gained new stands of trees that will support the health and well-being of both nature and the people who enjoy the beauty of this beautiful place for decades to come.
