Cleaning up riverside areas with Google in Warsaw on 26 June 2025
On 26 June 2025, we organized a special clean-up action along the Vistula River in Warsaw – this time in cooperation with the Google team. We joined forces to take care of one of the capital’s most important natural areas and to show that collective action truly has real power. More than 60 people took part in the event, including Google employees and volunteers from the One More Tree Foundation.
49 People, 60 Bags – The Power of Collective Action
The event had both an integrative and educational character. 49 Google employees participated in the clean-up, showing determination and good spirits throughout the day. Despite the summer sun, the group spent several hours actively collecting waste.
The result? 60 bags filled with bottles, cans, food packaging, plastic fragments and other waste that could have polluted the river and its surroundings for decades.
Why It Matters – The Environmental Impact of Waste
Litter left in green areas is not just an aesthetic issue – it poses a real threat to flora and fauna. Plastic waste breaks down into microplastics that enter groundwater, soil and eventually our bodies. Animals such as birds and fish often mistake waste for food, which can lead to serious injury or death.
Through actions like this, we not only clean specific locations but also build environmental awareness and set a positive example for others.
Results of the Action – Tangible Numbers and Real Change
Within just a few hours, we collected over 350 kg of waste, a significant portion of which was sorted for recycling. The most common items found were plastic bottles, food packaging and glass fragments. Thanks to good organization and strong engagement, the area was thoroughly cleaned. Participants also received eco-friendly gadgets and certificates confirming their involvement in the action.
Ecology Is a Shared Responsibility
This event showed that cooperation between technology companies and social organizations can bring real benefits to the environment. We are proud that Google has joined the group of our partners. We believe that joint actions, even on a local scale, have enormous power – both for nature and for building social responsibility.
