Green Market in Wrocław – an initiative by Mały Wielki Świat Association

On June 27, 2025, we partnered in a unique event – the summer edition of the Green Market, which took place at the Niedźwiedzia Market in Wrocław. This initiative, organized by the Mały Wielki Świat Association, brought together residents, local producers, organizations, and institutions to act together for a greener, more conscious, and more responsible city.

Let’s meet in the green

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the urban market space transformed into a place full of green energy, shared learning, and family relaxation. Visitors enjoyed numerous attractions: a clothing SWAP promoting circular fashion, composting demonstrations, gardening workshops, knowledge contests about Wrocław and local markets, expert advice, a kids’ zone, as well as tastings and presentations by local producers.

The event also featured the #DrinkTapWater campaign, reminding us how small everyday choices – such as giving up plastic bottles – can bring real change for the environment.

A seedling as the beginning of change

As part of the event, participants could receive tree seedlings – common maple and small-leaved linden. Each tree was a symbolic invitation to take action: to create green spaces in one’s surroundings – on balconies, yards, gardens, or shared public areas.

This idea sparked a lot of interest and became a great reason to reflect on how even the smallest actions can lead to real change in our immediate environment.

Green enclaves – urban oases you can create yourself

Participating in the Green Market became an opportunity to promote the idea of micro-plantings and green enclaves, which each of us can create, even in a very limited space.

A small strip of soil next to a building, a shared yard, a balcony planter, or an unused spot in front of a shop – all of these places can come back to life if we decide to introduce some greenery.

Green enclaves not only improve the aesthetics of the surroundings but also:

  • mitigate the effects of heat by increasing humidity and lowering the surrounding temperature,
  • protect the soil from erosion and support water retention,
  • attract pollinating insects, enhancing local biodiversity,
  • create spaces for rest and community integration.

Together for a green city

We believe that events like the Green Market – organized by passionate local associations like Mały Wielki Świat – have enormous power. They connect people, inspire action, and show that ecology doesn’t have to be reserved for experts – it can become a part of everyday life for each of us.

We thank the organizers for inviting us to collaborate and all the participants who took a seedling and thus began their green journey. We are happy to have contributed to creating a greener and friendlier city.
