Cleaning of green areas in Terrassa 30 June 2025
On 30 June 2025, an intimate but extremely important environmental action took place in Terrassa, Spain. Ten dedicated volunteers joined forces to take care of the local environment and restore the luster of one of the region’s natural spaces. Together, the participants collected more than a dozen bags of trash, turning a neglected section of the city into a place once again friendly to people and nature.
Although the scale of the event was small, its importance – huge. For the participants, it was not just a matter of cleaning up. It was an expression of concern for the common good and the need to be proactive in a climate-challenged world. A clean environment is not only about aesthetics, but also health, safety and better living conditions – both for people and urban fauna.
The event was practical, educational and inclusive. Volunteers shared their experiences, reflections and motivations for action. Many of them stressed that participating in such initiatives allows them to feel a real impact – something that is often lacking in everyday professional or social life. The cleanup became an excuse to talk about responsibility, shared values and local involvement.
Ecology in action – not just on paper
Terrassa has gained a cleaner stretch of greenery. But we also gained something more: we showed that even a small group can influence the environment. Such actions make sense not only for the environment – they are also an investment in social cohesion, education and new habits. And while we won’t solve global problems with one action, every bag of trash less is a step toward a better future.
Thank you to all participants – for your presence, commitment and energy. Together we are creating change. Because the planet is our shared responsibility – here, now, and every day.
Small steps = big change. 💚
Why are such actions needed?
Urban pollution is a global problem, but it can be seen locally – just around the corner, on a neighborhood path, in a neglected park or at a wild dump. Organizing a cleanup campaign is not just about immediate relief – it’s also about education, community building and an impetus to change attitudes. When people see the results of their work – collected garbage, changed surroundings – there is satisfaction and a desire to continue.
Environmental volunteering is becoming an increasingly important CSR tool – it shows that companies and organizations not only talk about values, but realistically invest in them. Actions like the one in Terrassa build the image of organizations that are responsible, committed and close to the people. And for the volunteers themselves, it’s a chance to break away from the daily routine and do something that leaves a lasting mark – not in documents, but in space, in the landscape and in the hearts of others.
