On 14 August in Skoczów, we held special insect hotel building workshops dedicated to participants of WTZ – people with disabilities. The aim of the event was to combine environmental education with hands-on activities that engage diverse social groups.
Thanks to the support of Stellantis, the Green Pulse of Silesia project is being implemented, enabling outreach to local communities while educating and inspiring pro-environmental action. The workshops became a great example of how social inclusion can go hand in hand with environmental protection.
Environmental Education Accessible to All
The workshops were open to people with different levels of ability, highlighting the inclusive nature of the Foundation’s activities. This allowed participants to take an active role in the sessions, gaining knowledge and experience through practical engagement.
Initiatives like this show that environmental education can be attractive and accessible to everyone, regardless of physical limitations or age. Working in groups supports integration and strengthens a sense of belonging within the local community.
Why Are Insects So Important?
Pollinating insects play a key role in the functioning of ecosystems. Thanks to them, plants can reproduce properly, which directly affects biodiversity and food production.
Protecting insect biodiversity has a direct impact on environmental health. The workshops helped participants understand how small actions – such as building insect hotels – can contribute to protecting entire ecosystems.
How Were the Insect Hotels Built?
During the workshops, participants learned about all stages of building insect hotels – from preparing materials and receiving instructions to constructing the structures themselves. Each hotel was made using natural materials, further reinforcing the educational value of the activities.
Hands-on experiences are extremely important in the learning process, as participants gain real-life experience. At the same time, the workshops provided an excellent opportunity for integration and creative time spent together.
Green Pulse of Silesia – A Joint Project with Stellantis
The Green Pulse of Silesia project, carried out in cooperation with Stellantis, aims to promote environmental awareness through practical actions in the region. Through this initiative, the Foundation reaches diverse social groups by organizing workshops, lectures and tree-planting activities.
The project combines education with a real impact on the natural environment. The workshops in Skoczów are one of many actions showing how practical initiatives effectively engage local communities.
Learning Through Action
The workshops demonstrated that environmental education is best absorbed through practice. Participants not only learned about the importance of insects in ecosystems but also applied their knowledge by building insect hotels that will later be placed in natural environments.
This type of experience connects theory with practice while emotionally engaging participants, increasing the likelihood that the knowledge gained will be applied in everyday life.
Working Together for the Environment
The Green Pulse of Silesia project shows that cooperation between social organizations, companies and local governments brings the best results. By joining forces, it becomes possible to reach more people and increase the impact of pro-environmental actions.
Thanks to initiatives like this, local communities become more aware of the need to protect the environment. Projects like this help build lasting habits and interest in ecology among different social groups.
Summary and Next Steps
The workshops in Skoczów proved that educational activities can be practical, engaging and inclusive at the same time. Combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on action supports participant integration and builds environmental awareness.
The Green Pulse of Silesia project will continue, with more workshops and initiatives planned for the coming months. We encourage you to follow the Foundation’s updates to stay informed about upcoming environmental events.
