On September 6, 2025, the ZHP Scout Headquarters in Katowice was full of color, joy, and ecology! As part of the Green Pulse of Silesia project, organized in cooperation with Stellantis, we held a workshop that combined learning, creativity, and fun.
Architecture… for Insects!
This time, the participants took on an unusual challenge: designing and building their own insect hotels. Plenty of hands-on work, a bit of learning, and a huge dose of laughter!
Learning by Doing
Forget about boring biology lessons! Here, ecology is learned through experience – quite literally, with your hands. The scouts measured, drilled, and built their insect houses while learning how easy it is to help nature.
The outdoor setting made it even clearer that nature is our best teacher. Did you know that a single solitary bee can pollinate as many flowers as an entire hive of honeybees? Our workshops were full of such fascinating facts and practical insights.
Working with Nature and Imagination
The tables smelled of wood and adventure. Each participant chose materials, drilled holes, arranged bamboo tubes, and thought about how best to “decorate” a cozy home for insects. There were both precise, well-planned designs and creative, imaginative ones.
But the most important thing was something else – teamwork, conversation, and smiles. Ecology starts with small gestures, and those work best when we do them together.
