Insect Hotel Building Workshop in Wrocław – September 22, 2025
On September 22, 2025, we organized an insect hotel building workshop for employees of 3M in Wrocław. The event gathered 20 participants who, with great enthusiasm, created 10 beautiful and functional insect hotels for pollinators. The meeting took place in a friendly, workshop atmosphere that encouraged collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and discussions about ecology in everyday life.
From the very beginning, we were accompanied by the participants’ enthusiasm and curiosity. 3M employees not only learned how to create safe shelters for insects but also discovered how much these small creatures influence the functioning of entire ecosystems.
Why Are Insects So Important for the Environment?
During the workshop, we reminded everyone that pollinating insects are essential for maintaining biodiversity and food production. Thanks to them, plants bear fruit, and forests and meadows preserve their balance. Unfortunately, the populations of many species—especially solitary bees, bumblebees, and lacewings—are dramatically declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change.
By building insect hotels, workshop participants contributed to real support for urban nature. All the structures created were placed in appropriate green locations, where they now serve wild pollinators as safe places to live and reproduce, helping to restore balance in urban ecosystems.
Education Through Action
The workshops were not only practical but also educational. During the meeting, we talked about how to properly locate and maintain insect hotels, what materials to use, and how to recognize their future inhabitants. Participants learned that even small actions—such as creating habitats for insects in urban spaces—can have a significant impact on local nature.
This form of education, based on experience and collaboration, allows for a better understanding of natural processes and encourages the adoption of ecological habits beyond the workplace.
Shared Responsibility and Lasting Impact
Together with the 3M team, we demonstrated that caring for nature can be a combination of learning, integration, and real action. The workshops not only strengthened team bonds but also inspired reflection on how each of us can support nature in our daily lives.
Such events have an impact that goes beyond a single day. They build environmental awareness, unite communities, and show that cooperation between companies and ecological organizations brings tangible results. Through joint efforts, we are creating spaces where people and nature can coexist in harmony.
The entire meeting in Wrocław proved that commitment and curiosity can lead to concrete, positive change. Each of the insect hotels created is a small gesture that, on a city-wide scale, becomes part of a larger network of actions for biodiversity protection.
