Workshops “Insect Hotels” in Jaworzno – September 24, 2025
In Jaworzno, another set of workshops was held as part of the “Green Pulse of Silesia” project, implemented in cooperation with the company Stellantis. The meeting took place at the Jaworzniacy Youth Cultural Centre, where together with participants of all genders we created insect houses.
The finished structures were arranged around the cultural centre, creating new habitats for beneficial species. In this way, the urban space gained not only an element supporting nature, but also a site that now serves as a living lesson in ecology for the local community.
Why do we need insect houses?
During the workshops, we emphasized that pollinating insects are essential for the functioning of ecosystems. Thanks to them, food production and the maintenance of healthy green areas are possible. Unfortunately, insect populations are steadily declining due to habitat loss, pollution and the use of chemicals in agriculture.
By building insect houses, we are responding to real environmental challenges. We provide insects with safe places to shelter and reproduce, and at the same time teach young people that every action – even one that seems small – matters for nature.
Learning that stays with you
The workshops were primarily educational. Participants learned which insect species use the houses, what role they play in nature and why they should be protected.
Knowledge gained through hands-on experience stays for a long time and has a real impact on ways of thinking and everyday choices. Through the workshops, young people built greater environmental awareness and better understood how their decisions affect the environment. This is an investment in the future that brings long-term results.
Green Pulse of Silesia – shared care for nature
The “Green Pulse of Silesia” project shows that environmental education should go hand in hand with practical action. Thanks to the support of Stellantis, it was possible to show that protecting nature does not require major resources – but commitment and awareness.
The insect houses prepared in Jaworzno will serve insects for a long time and at the same time remind residents that the natural environment needs our care and responsible choices.
Education that changes the environment
The workshops in Jaworzno showed that environmental education in action brings lasting results. The prepared structures provide real support for nature, and at the same time show that younger and older people can be ambassadors of change.
This experience shows that environmental protection begins locally – at school, at the cultural centre and in the immediate surroundings. Thanks to such initiatives, we build not only better conditions for nature, but also more aware and responsible communities.
