Planting Over 1,000 Trees in Zabrze on October 9, 2025
On October 9, 2025, in the Motocross Municipal Forest in Zabrze-Biskupice, we planted more than 1,000 young trees, creating another piece of the city’s green landscape. This event was part of the Green Pulse of Silesia program, carried out in cooperation with Stellantis, combining care for the environment with real, hands-on action in the region.
New Life in the Urban Forest
For years, the Biskupice Municipal Forest has been a place of rest, recreation, and walks for the local community. Now it has gained something more – young trees that will grow along with the city.
The planting involved representatives of local institutions, participants of the Caritas Gliwice Occupational Therapy Workshops, and residents of Zabrze. Together, we planted over 1,000 trees, including about 80% native deciduous species (oaks, beeches, lindens, maples, hornbeams) and 20% fruit trees (apple, pear, cherry, sour cherry, and rowan), which will provide food for birds and insects in the future.
Why Do We Plant Trees?
Trees play a vital role in protecting the climate. They absorb CO₂, purify the air, retain water in the soil, cool urban areas, and provide shelter for birds and insects. By planting new trees, we return space to nature – space once taken by concrete – giving cities a chance to truly breathe.
Shared Energy, Shared Purpose
The event in Biskupice showed how much can be achieved together. For many participants, it was their first time planting trees – and an experience full of satisfaction. It took just a few hours to turn empty ground into neat rows of young saplings.
Thank You!
Every pair of hands mattered. Our sincere thanks go to Stellantis, partner of the Green Pulse of Silesia program, for their continued support and collaboration – helping us make Silesian cities greener and closer to nature.
